The Domaine de Pijaubert to Host the 2013 Riviera Polo Cup

The Riviera Polo Cup takes place this September in the Domaine de Pijaubert in Callian, and promises to be a great day out for everyone.

The Domaine de Pijaubert is home to the family run Pijaubert Polo school and farm, and will be hosting the first ever event of the Riviera Polo Club, the 2013 Riviera Polo Cup, on Saturday, 21st September.

The event is open to everyone, and the organisers certainly encourage newbies to the sport to come along and experience the thrill of the chukkas in a very up close and personal way!

The Sport of Kings it may be, but don’t be put off by any preconceived notions that you may have – these events are a great day out, very sociable, and you will be mightily impressed by the athleticism of the participants. Kick back and enjoy the surroundings, while sipping on your beverage of choice, perched on a bale of hay…yes, it is that sort of day!

The event starts at 4:30pm, with the presentation of the teams to the spectators, and the first matches get underway at 5pm. The prizegiving takes place at 7pm, and this will be followed by an Asado (an Argentine BBQ with real Argentinian steak) at 7:30pm and music and dancing into the night!

There will also be some interesting displays on site in the tented village during the afternoon, and we strongly recommend that you check out the artwork of our friend Daria Jabenko, like this superb illustration below.

Tickets for the event cost €5 if bought in advance (€8 on the day), which entitles you entry to the event and the prizegiving afterwards. The Asado is €20 if reserved in advance, or €30 on the day if there are still places remaining. A VIP pass is also available – this costs €40, and must also be reserved in advance.
