The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters marks the annual return to European clay of top flight men’s tennis, this year’s edition running from 10th to 18th April 2021
Having fallen foul to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the 2021 tournament will be played behind closed doors. Whilst not ideal from the fans’ perspective, at least the event is going ahead with a truly world class line-up.
Players confirmed include nine of the Top Ten players in the ATP world rankings, the only one missing being a certain Mr. Federer. Other names to look out for include Hubert Hurkacz, who just won his first ATP 1000 Masters title with a great victory this past weekend in Miami.
“After the cancellation of the Tournament in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted that the 2021 edition can once again play host to the best players on the ATP circuit. I would like to thank the players in particular, who will once again be back on the clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club for their loyalty and support,” commented the Tournament Director, Zeljko Franulovic.
He also commented on the passing in 2020 of the Baroness Elizabeth-Ann de Massy who played a huge role in Monegasque tennis, being President of the Monte-Carlo Country Club and the Monaco Tennis Federation, as well as being the President of the Organising Committee of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
Organisers have done everything in their power to ensure all the necessary health measures are in place for this event, with the safety of all participants and organisers being of paramount importance.
For the spectators, they will be able to follow all the action from the the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters live on TV, with channels such as Eurosport and C8 (Canal Plus) for France, Sky Italia, Eurosport Russia, Sky Deutschland, Tennis Channel US, and CCTTV for China all carrying the event. There will be plenty of updated on the tournament’s social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and there is also a tournament app available for download [Android | iOS].
