Brigitte is coming to the Espace Léo Ferré in Monaco this March, but if you expect some glamourous creature, you are in for a surprise … or two!

The name Brigitte is fairly well known in these parts, but this Brigitte is a little different, taking the form of two hippy chic girls, Aurélie Saada (the blonde) and Sylvie Hoarau (the brunette), who are rocking the musical scene with their indie folk sound and their flower power spirit.

Formed in 2008, the two French artists started their career playing cabaret songs in the clubs of Paris. Soon thereafter they started recording demos and appeared at many festivals. After their remix of NTM’s ’90s hip-hop anthem “Ma Benz” became a viral sensation and appeared on major music channels in France, including MTV, they released their debut album Et vous, tu m’aimes? (And You, Do You Love Me?), which reached double platinum status with close to 180,000 albums sold and brought them a prestigious Victoire de la Musique for « Groupe Révélation Scène ». Thus Brigitte started to become a real phenomenon, not only in their native country, but also abroad!

In 2014, the duo released their second album À Bouche Que Veux-Tu (Mouth of Plenty), which was as successful as its predecessor. And since last year, the mischievous duo have been touring the world with their third effort, Nues, which offers a breezy disco vibe.

The two singers do everything themselves. They compose, sing, play the music and have earned a reputation for having an incredible on-stage presence. Often wearing matching vintage costumes with high slits and curvy silhouettes, they want to embody all women, from the wife and mother, to the lover and femme fatale. As they said a few years ago in an interview “Brigitte is retro, our style it’s the 50s, it’s French, it’s Brigitte Bardot, it’s Brigitte Lahaie, the aunt that cooks, the cousin’s wife (…)”. And there is no doubt that with their unclassifiable style, subtle whispers, and feline melodies, Brigitte is a delight to listen to and also to see live.

Brigitte plays at the Espace Léo Ferré – Salle du Canton on Friday, the 30th of March at 8:30pm. Tickets cost from €30 and can be bought at all the usual outlets or reserved online.
