Nice comes out in force, with thousands taking to the streets, to support same-sex marriage and adoption in France.
Despite the rain and generally miserable conditions, the organisers of the march in support of ‘Mariage pour tous et toutes‘ must have been very pleased with the turnout in Place Garibaldi today.
The demonstration, organised locally by Le Centre LGBT Côte d’Azur and l’association AGLAE, in conjunction with several other groups and associations, coincided with similar events planned in numerous other cities throughout France by the Fédération LGBT. The route led the marchers from Place Garibaldi, down along avenue Félix Faure, through Place Masséna and onto the Promenade, and then back through the Old Town to the Place du Palais de Justice. Check out some photographs from the afternoon below.
The big national demonstration takes place on Sunday, 27th January in Paris. Judging by the turnout in Nice today, you can be sure that the Parisian event will go down in the history books!
