This October, 24 riders will cycle 850km from Barcelona to Antibes with the aim to raise as much money as possible for cancer research.
COGS4CANCER is a community driven event, widely supported by the yachting industry and individuals alike. Since its foundation in 2013, COGS4CANCER has already raised in excess of €500,000 and this contribution is widely recognised as having helped make significant inroads in the fight against cancer.
Sadly, nearly everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another, and COGS4CANCER came about through the stories of those in the yachting industry who have been affected by this disease. The aim was to set up a charity with every single penny raised going directly to charity, with all other operational and incidental costs being covered by the riders and support team themselves.
The chosen charities to benefit from the fundraising efforts are Cancer Research UK, L’Archet Hospital in Nice, Cancer Support Group 06, and Clinique Tzanck Wellbeing.
COGS4CANCER has received fantastic support from the yachting industry, with new sponsors and partners coming on board each year. Industry leaders such as Burgess, Fraser Yachts, Edmiston and Y.CO have all lent their names to the cause. Two refit shipyards, Monaco Marine and Composite Works, have also partnered up to co-sponsor the French Tribute Ride.
Other notable supporters of COGS4CANCER include HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, who has been involved since the get-go, local sports heroes Novak Djokovic and Jensen Button, and even Rihanna!
Fundraising events for 2015 include the Charity Gala Dinner which takes place on the 19th September, the tribute ride on the 9th of October (all welcome to take part in this), and the massive Homecoming Party which happens on 10th October at the culmination of the main ride.
COGS4CANCER is always looking for people to get involved or to help out. If this is you, please get in touch with the guys.
We wish all the riders and organisers another great ride this year, and hopefully all fundraising records will be smashed again! Bonne chance!
