My first introduction to Stuart was when he created and was musical director of a wonderful cabaret in Monaco. This was with the very talented song and dance team of Paul Spicer & Matt Firth, which we subsequently brought to Nice. After that Stuart brought José Promis, an outstanding cabaret musician from Berlin, to the La Passerelle in Nice, a venue that has since sadly closed. Working with José resulted in my writing screenplay around his music which turned into a film, Berlin Cake, that had Stuart in a leading part; he is a brilliant actor too!

Stuart is no slouch in becoming involved with musical productions. His amazing background that started humbly in local amateur dramatics evolved into his being the musical director in major West End shows. The breadth of his talent, the ease with which he is able to produce music and his formidable ability to coach talent is truly exceptional.

Working with other very talented people like lovely Colette Marx-Nielsen, has led Stuart to direct and be in many musical productions on the Riviera, particularly in Monaco where he created the Cabaret Medicale with the renowned cardiologist Nadir Saoudi. Despite all his work and achievements, Stuart’s feet are firmly planted on the ground; he still plays the organ in churches, given the opportunity.

Being the quintessential English gentleman, it comes as a surprise that Stuart is a bona fide Frenchman having been naturalised. He is very grateful to be French and is proud of being French. He was fortunate enough to know Tracy Leonetti, who guided him through the process.

Stuart lives and works in Nice from an apartment overlooking the Mediterranean, where he can be found working (is it really work or a passion?) at his superb grand piano. The grand piano is no ordinary grand piano, it is packed with electronic goodies that enables it to be played silently, record and playback music plus it even plays music from the internet – a true wonder, come to think of it, a true wonder just like Stuart.
