Purple Pants Promenade is a charity event taking place in Antibes this September, supporting two charities concerned with women’s health.
The original idea for this charity event came from two expats living on the Riviera, Meg Burley and Bev Hill, and they were subsequently joined by Lizz Boardman to help them with their marketing of the event. They believed that with their network of friends, it would be a good basis to organise a charity evening to support both local and UK based causes.
The charities in question are Wellbeing of Women (known to Meg through their spokesperson Eve Pollard), and Défi de Femmes, who help women suffering from cancer in terms of mental support with psychiatrists and beauty treatments. Sadly, we all know people who have suffered or are suffering.
The charity event, called Purple Pants Promenade, takes place in Port Vauban in Antibes from 7 – 10pm on 27th September, 2014. It entails a 3.5km charity walk around the port area and adjacent athletics track, to be walked as often as you like during the three hour period. This will be followed by an evening of “purple” fun for all the family. Funds raised will be donated to the two charities, in the UK and in the South of France.
You may sign up for the event online today — the entry fee is €25 per adult, €5 per child (under 16). Donations are also gratefully accepted. Ladies will be given Purple Pants (cycle style shorts) to wear for the event.
Stay up to date with all the latest news and information about the event on the Purple Pants Promenade Facebook page. The event is run in association with Antibes Athletics Club and the Mairie of Antibes.
