New French musical sensation The Avener plays the beaches of Cannes this August — roll on les Plages Électroniques of summer!
With its mix of electronic music and beach atmosphere, les Plages Électroniques in Cannes has become one of the Summer’s hottest festivals. And with the most-talked about DJ of the moment, The Avener, confirmed for the 2015 edition, it definitely promises to be as wild as ever.
Regarded by many as the new French touch phenomenon, the young Niçois, whose real name is Tristan Casara, conquered the world at the end of 2013 with his rework of Phoebe Kildeer’s “Fade Out Lines”, an electronic indie melody which topped the charts in more than 17 countries. Following on from the phenomenal success of this first single, the 28 year old released his first album earlier this year, The Wanderings of The Avener, a 12 track opus that is steadily gathering momentum.
As Casara himself describes his music, “it’s blues with jazz, folk and funk influences, and electronic instruments. It has feelings, emotion and nostalgia, but a lot of energy too.” The French producer/ DJ is however much more than just a remixer, he is a music reworker. He selects relatively unknown tracks and adds new beats, creating a final product with a more modern feel, but still in keeping with the spirit of the original.
The Avener likes to break down the barriers between all musical genres and styles and has managed to combine his earlier love of piano with his eclectic electronic influences to create an uplifting style of house music that you can really dance to.
He won’t be alone in Cannes this summer, though. Other world famous DJs, including the Martinez Brothers, Tales of Us and Loco Dice are also expected to electrify the warm Cannes nights.
Les Plages Électroniques will take place on the beach of the Palais des Festivals on Friday 17th of July, Saturday, Saturday 8th of August and Sunday 9th of August. Tickets cost from €16,80 to €21,80 and can be bought online or from all usual outlets.
