The Open de Nice Côte d’Azur, an ATP 250 tournament, returns to the Nice Lawn Tennis Club this May, a precursor to the French Open in Roland Garros.

Growing in stature every year, the Open de Nice Côte d’Azur has proven to be the perfect practice for the pros heading to Paris. Every bit of clay court experience beforehand can prove so important for progressing in the only Grand Slam on the terre battue.

Last year’s champion, Dominic Thiem, is back to defend his crown, and leads an impressive field, which includes local boy Gilles Simon, compatriots Benoît Paire and Paul Henri Mathieu, new kid on the block Alexander Zverev, Jiri Vesely who downed Novak Djokovic in the second round of the recent Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, Juan Monaco, and Tommy Robredo, amongst many others.

Despite being only an ATP 250 tournament, the player list confirmed so far includes no less than 10 players in the world’s Top 50, with defending champion Thiem being the highest ranked at No. 14.
