A not-to-be-missed weekend out in Antibes for connisseurs of chocolate and all things sweet

If you have a sweet tooth, love all things chocolate and candy, and you can’t wait for the cake to be served when you attend a wedding, the 39th Annual Salon du Sucre et du Chocolat is definitely for you.

Organized by the Chambre Syndicale des Maîtres Pâtissiers of the Alpes-Maritimes and held at Les Espaces du Fort Carré on the port just outside the old town of Antibes, the salon runs throughout the weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November, from 10am until 7pm.

Entrance to the salon costs just 2€ per person with reductions for children and OAPs, and once inside you can discover the different stands and watch sweet and cake making demonstrations from local bakers and confectioners.

There will also be a competition for the best ‘Croque-en-bouche’ – the traditional French wedding pastry usually served in the form of a tower of chocolate, cream-filled profiteroles bound together with threads of caramel. The master pastry chefs competing will be showing off their skills and decorating their entries with sugared almonds, chocolate, flowers, ribbons, macaroons and caramel right in front of you.
