The new polo season gets underway on the Riviera with the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Saturday, 18th July in the lovely setting of Callian.
This is going to be a great day for all the family, with pre-paid tickets for entry available online for only €15 + fees. Entry on the day itself will cost €25. Plus on offer is a three course International buffet after the polo, provided by our good friends in Events By George, costing €38,50 (entrance not included) — you need to book in advance for this.
So be prepared for a great day of polo with international and regional players plus music, plus artisans village with Scapa Sports polo wear. Also, for the first time Mike, our intrepid reporter, will have a tent all to himself — do drop in and say hello!
Riviera Radio’s very own Dj Mark Dezzani and Will Jones provide the music and keep you up on the polo action. Three teams — Riviera Polo Team, Blohm+Voss and Scapa Sports — will face off for the trophy of the 10th edition Champagne&Chukkas Polo tournament.
Champagne and wine will flow throughout the day, not expensive! There is an exciting newcomer – Jugs of Pimm’s on sale from Ewan Bird and his team from Vin de Terre. Also very exciting, new partners on board; Bridie Simply Food and Vintage Charm selling English Cream Teas, Sandwiches, Cupcakes and home-made freshly squeezed lemonade at the Vintage Tea Party stand.
There will be pony rides for the little ones, provided by the Ecuries de Baracka, a gourmet lunch and day at the spa for two to be won on the day, donated by the tournament partner, Terre Blanche Hotel Golf Spa Resort ***** and a Pijaubert Polo School stand selling buckets of balls for hitting practice on the fastest pony, Maximus: the wooden horse !
This is going to be a cool day out – solo, couples & families – for anyone who likes horses, fun and socialising – It is all so easy going – a great day out in a great location!! See you there!
