La Mairie de Cannes is organising a spectacular evening to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Port Pierre Canto this July.
The summer festivities continue in Cannes with a spectacular festive evening on Saturday, 19th July to mark the 60th anniversary of the Pierre Canto municipal port, the nautical jewel of Pointe Croisette. Organised by La Mairie de Cannes, the event is open to the general public.
Proceedings kick off at 7pm with the unveiling of the footprints of Olivier de Kersauson on the Walk of Fame Maritime, in the presence of the great yachtsman himself. A legend of ocean racing, he holds several round-the-world records and has twice won the Jules Verne Trophy.
It will be followed by a free concert at 8pm in the Espace Grand Large by the Bagad de Lann-Bihoué, a Breton music ensemble of the French Navy. They bring Celtic culture to the four corners of the world with a repertoire that blends tradition, modernity, and powerful sound.

At nightfall (9:30pm), the waterfront will be illuminated by a spectacular light and sound show. This will include a projection of monumental images onto a giant water screen, accompanied by music, for a visual and poetic immersion in the marine world, followed by a unique laser show, recreating the magic of the Northern Lights in the Cannes sky with animated light beams. This takes place opposite the Office of the Harbour Master.
At 10:15 p.m., a diamond-themed fireworks display, launched from the water, will enhance the bay of Port Canto and bring this exceptional evening to a close.
“True to its maritime identity, Cannes honours its roots and celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Pierre Canto Municipal Port, Saturday, July 19, 2025, with a festive, popular, and family-friendly evening. Completely redeveloped by the municipality, this emblematic port has been transformed into a true living and walking place, which contributes to the attractiveness of the city and the improvement of the quality of life of Cannes residents. On the occasion of this celebration, the municipality will honour Olivier de Kersauson by leaving his mark on this exceptional setting. An extraordinary sailor, both solitary and visionary, he embodies a certain idea of the sea and life, made of freedom, rigour, independence, and a beautiful form of insolence. Paying tribute to him here is to salute a major figure in French navigation, whose career and character command admiration.”
David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes
