There are some people that have a natural gift for design, Ernst Jan Zantingh is one of those people whilst being approachable and empathic.

His style is unique, warm and personal. It has that timeless comfortable liveable quality which is so appealing and so rare. Ernst is not making a statement that slaps you in the face, quite the contrary, his designs are engaging and made for humans who want to live in a space rather than being dominated by it.

Having moved from his native Netherlands to the south of France, he has established Zantos as one of the premier interior and exterior design studios on the Riviera. It is now very much a family business with Ernst’s three sons joining him and handling different core functions. Having his sons in Zantos was always Ernst’s dream, a dream come true for a very proud father.

Ernst’s designs are fluid and engage the eyes rather than challenging them. The forms are soft and fluid. The flow is natural being formed around the individual and their family rather than making the family fit some design ideal. Symmetry is visible in all of his work, a natural and pleasing balance with muted colours that accent allowing the people, their lifestyle and their art choices provide the living colour.

Zantos works on existing structures, total renovations and new builds. It all depends on the client and the design brief. The client works closely with the team at Zantos from day one. A unique aspect is that the client is able to accompany Ernst, if they wish, looking at furnishings throughout Europe. There has to be a common vision that is shared between the client and Ernst.

There is so much to Ernst, his projects and Zantos. Information and images are available at Zantos.com and on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. There are also videos on YouTube. It isn’t often that you find a designer with such wide skills that remains grounded, true, to their passion, the passion being to create superb design that compliments and accents a client’s lifestyle skilfully, timelessly and professionally.
