Next week, Nice will once again be hosting the annual Short Film Festival, with filmmakers from nineteen countries vying for the coveted Grand Prix.

Short films by aspiring filmakers from all over Europe are taking center stage next week in Nice. Held in many venues throughout the city, the 12th edition of the Nice Short Film Festival, (Un festival c’est trop court), will show more than 170 innovative, rare or unpublished works from 19 countries, including the Czech Republic, this year’s guest of honour.

44 films will be vying for the Grand Prix, but the six-day film fest will also feature three other competitions: Prix Courts d’ici (for films shot and produced in the PACA region), Prix Expérience (for Experimental film, video art and new cinema) and Prix Courts d’animation (for Francophone film animation).

The various winners will be selected by a professional jury, and will all be guaranteed a share in the 10,000 euros cash prize and the prize of technical services also on offer.

The festival kicks off on Tuesday, the 23rd of October, with the Opening Ceremony at the Théâtre Lino Ventura and finishes up on Sunday, the 28th.

There are numerous events organized, including workshops and meetings of authors and producers, round table discussions, debates and projections. Look out for the Ciné-concert Stone Bowels & Quintron at the Volume on Thursday the 25th from 10pm, and the Closing Party at B Spot on Saturday the 27th October.
