The 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is underway and continues throughout the weekend. The event offers a remarkable journey through nearly four decades of Grand Prix history, spanning from 1946 to 1985. Recent FIA regulation changes now allow the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) Organising and Selection Committee to introduce a dedicated class for Formula 1 cars powered by turbo engines. This will bring a smile to the faces of a lot of racing enthusiasts. There is a full schedule of races on the cards for today, finishing up with the F1 Grand Prix cars from 1981 – 1985.

The 34th edition of La Napoule Boatshow is underway at Port La Napoule, concluding tomorrow, Sunday, 26th April. The 3rd edition of the Salon du Livre d’Histoire is underway in Grasse and runs throughout the weekend. There is a busy programme lined up for the weekend, including talks by more than 30 authors, interviews, and a pop-up bookstore. All taking place in the Médiathèque Charles Nègre. Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur hosts an event entitled 60 Minutes de Baroque in the Grand Salle de l’Opéra at 6 pm this evening. Neyna, a rising star in Cape Verdean music, plays Théâtre Lino Ventura in Nice tonight. She has established herself as an essential voice with hits like “Na Bo Mon” (6M+ views) and “Menino Veneno.” She is also a two-time winner of the Cabo Verde Music Awards in 2023 and 2024. The Kevin Saura Quartet play the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer at 9 pm tonight. Nice-born guitarist Kevin Sauran enjoys navigating between styles, blending tradition and modernity, venturing into blues-rock (as heard on his debut album, Dirty Talks, released in 2023) as well as bebop, West Coast jazz, funk, and free jazz. Le 109 in Nice hosts the 3rd QUEER FILM NIGHT, as part of the In&Out Queer Film Festival. A highly acclaimed event from previous editions of the festival is back. The Cinémathèque de Nice will host director and screenwriter Mounia Meddour for a special event following the screening of her two films, Papicha (1:45 pm) and Houria (3:45 pm). Papicha garnered attention at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and won the César Awards the following year for Best First Film and Most Promising Actress for Lyna Khoudri. Houria offers a simultaneously dazzling and unflinching perspective on contemporary Algeria. Mounia Meddour will look back on her career and her perspective as a filmmaker, and will discuss the filming of her latest feature film, Malika, inspired by the life of the opera singer Malika Bellaribi, nicknamed “the diva of the suburbs”. The latest immersive experience, L’Odyssée Céleste, continues in the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption in Nice’. This incredible show (run extended through mid-May), designed and executed by Luminiscence, transforms sacred architecture into a living narrative through light, sound, and technology. Jazz Manouche – Barthalo play the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer at 8 pm tonight. Barthalo features two guitars, an accordion, and a double bass, creating a veritable firework display of all their musical inspirations: from gypsy jazz to standards, covers of gypsy and French songs, and original compositions. The Princess Grace Irish Library in Monaco will host a special talk at 7 pm this evening, looking at the close bond that existed between Princess Grace and Ireland. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the historic 1961 visit of Princess Grace of Monaco to Ireland. The evening will feature a three-way conversation between Pierre Joannon, retired diplomat Peter K. Murphy (both of whom know Princess Grace personally), and William Harrison Jr., exploring Princess Grace’s deep connection to Ireland – the land of her grandfather’s birth and from which he emigrated as a young man to the United States in 1867.
