Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur hosts a lecture this aternoon at 3 pm, entitled La dernière année de Mozart (Mozart’s Last Year). Delve into the year 1791, a period as dazzling as it was mysterious, which saw the birth of two major masterpieces: The Magic Flute and the Requiem. This free lecture, presented by Dominique Meyer and organised by the Richard Wagner Circle of the Right Bank, explores the artistic and historical upheavals of this exceptional year. Our friends in Masséna Around the World bookstore in Nice welcome author and food and travel journalist Sudi Pigott to the bookshop between 5pm and 7pm this evening to discuss her latest book Consider the Anchovy. Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, the Nuit européenne des musées has existed in France since 1999. From nightfall this evening, many museums will open their doors to the public, free of charge, until midnight. Check the event website for confirmation of the museums open in your locale.

Impact Son and Panda Events present RIFF & BLOOD #2 at Frigo 16 in Nice tonight. A unique experience in a legendary venue – a raw, gritty setting, perfect for fans of metal. Cinéma de la Plage concludes at Plage Brigitte Bardot in Cannes at 9:30 pm tonight with a screening of Mon Oncle by Jacques Tati (1958 | 1h56 | France). A great classic of French comedy and the winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival. The screening will be shown in the presence of Macha Makeïeff and Jérôme Deschamps, founders of Les Films de Mon Oncle, and Juliette Hochart, Executive Vice President Catalogue, Studiocanal. SUNDAY, 24th MAY

Celebrate La Fête des Mai at the gardens at the Arènes de Cimiez with traditional dancing and singing on the programme throughout the day. There are two stages, Scène de l’Oliveraie and Petite scène, where all the action takes place, starting at 11 am and running until the evening. Free admission.

Join La marche des Animaux on the Promenade des Anglais accompanied by your pet! The walk will start from Rauba Capeu at 10am, moving towards Le Negresco. Organised by the City of Nice in collaboration with the associations ARPA, ADDA and the Fédération de protection animale PACA.

The inaugural Verticale du 06 (V-06) takes place today. This endurance event comprises a number of options – a triathlon, a duathlon and a children’s race. From Villeneuve-Loubet to Valberg, the event has been created to offer participants an adventure, showcase a region, and above all, create memories. Here, everyone progresses at their own pace. People come to feel the effort, marvel at the scenery, and share a collective adventure. The Bahar Trio plays the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer at 8 pm tonight. Bahar was formed following a meeting, during jam sessions, between Yassin El Mahi, percussionist and singer, and Dominique Trefoloni, bassist. They found the ideal complement in Anis Agrebi, oud player, to form a trio where improvisation takes centre stage. Together, they explore the standards of oriental music, from Turkey to Morocco, and the works of the great masters, as well as more personal compositions, each bringing their own influences, between tradition, jazz and modernity. The Médiathèque Caroline in Monaco hosts a lecture by Cécilia Auber at 6:30 pm this evening, entitled Conférence Gustave Caillebotte, peintre et mécène des Impressionnistes (Gustave Caillebotte, painter and patron of the Impressionists). A talented painter with a unique vision, Gustave Caillebotte (1848-1894) immerses us in the modern life of the late 19th century, capturing in his canvases a Paris in the throes of transformation and the emergence of a leisure society. A fellow traveler of the Impressionists, he enriched the movement not only with his own works, but also through his role as a patron and collector. By financially supporting exhibitions and donating some forty masterpieces to France, Gustave Caillebotte played a crucial role in introducing Impressionism into French museums. Free entry. The event, celebrating its 30th anniversary, is the first major gathering of classic yachts of the Mediterranean season and is reinventing itself with a new Village concept, emphasizing conviviality, comfort, and an immersive experience in the heart of Port Vauban. Château de Crémat in Nice hosts the first of a number of its Soirée BRASERO du Château tonight, from 6 pm to 10 pm. Fire pit season is officially here! The Laurent Rossi – Spirale Trio play the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer at 9 pm tonight. After a foray into electric jazz-fusion as keyboardist and composer for the group Spirale in the 1990s (which notably performed at the Nice Jazz Festival in 1994 and 1997), Laurent Rossi founded the Spirale Trio in 2014. The personal and accomplished sound of this ensemble is contemporary jazz, open to a multitude of influences and possessing a strong harmonic and melodic identity. Laurent Rossi has found in Nicolas Luchi (double bass) and Jérôme Achat (drums) perfect partners to best serve his music and engage in a constant dialogue where their personalities intertwine. The Centre LGBT Côte d’Azur celebrates its 15th anniversary with a special charity night at NEO x VogelART Lab in Nice. This is going to be a vibrant event, bringing together drag artists, activists, local organizations, allies, and community members for a night dedicated to pride, resilience, and unity. This year, we will be treated to a major exhibition retracing over a century of passion for motoring in the Principality. The programme for the 65th edition of the renowned Jazz à Juan festival has officially been unveiled, and it promises to be one of the standout music events of the summer.
