Salon iD Week-End takes place this weekend at Jardin Albert 1er in Nice. The event is brought to you by the same people who organise the Foire de Nice and they invite you to explore a new way to travel: close, accessible, inspiring, and authentic. Come discover local and nearby tourism, find weekend and getaway ideas (though you do have our weekly What’s On guide at your disposal!), enjoy free family activities, participate in games and entertainment and win prizes. The 54th editiion of the Antibes Art Fair continues at the Esplanade du Pré des Pêcheurs, running until this Monday, 20th April. The event welcomes more than 20,000 visitors, collectors, amateurs and enthusiasts who come to discover some of the finest pieces offered on the international art market: modern and contemporary art, antiques, antique jewelry, furniture and design objects. The 2026 edition of the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week concludes at the Grimaldi Forum with a number of runway shows taking place throughoout the day. Another very successful edition, by all accounts.

This is the weekend of the 34th Semi-Marathon International de Nice. The main races take place tomorrow but there is plenty happening today with a breakfast run at 10 am, the family relay race at 3 pm, and a yoga session also at 3 pm. Participants can collect their bibs at the Expo Village located beside the Kiosque à musique in the Théâte de Verdure between 9 am and 7 pm.

Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo 2026

The Festival Printemps des Arts in Monaco comes to an end this weekend. The final event on the festival programme is ‘Minatures‘, with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo and Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain. For the 2004 edition of the festival, the then-director, Marc Monnet, commissioned seven composers to create “miniatures,” which were subsequently choreographed for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. This year, one of the seven commissioners, having himself become the festival’s artistic director, had the idea of ​​extending the project: thus, Bruno Mantovani invites you to (re)discover two of the ballets created 22 years ago, along with four new works commissioned from four new composers and choreographers… taking place at 7:30 pm at the Salle Garnier in the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. From timeless classics to remixes, Frigo 16 will transform into a true temple of Funk and Disco & Soul for a musical journey through time. Jean-Marc Jafett play the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer at 9 pm tonight, reviving his Agora project, thirty years after its creation in 1994. The original lineup will be present, including Sylvain Luc, Denis Leloup, Jean-Yves Candela, François Laizeau, Stéphane Belmondo, François Constantin, André Ceccarelli, Thierry Arpino, Eric Seva, and Marc Berthoumieux. Accompanied by superb local musicians, he will perform many songs from the original project, notably in memory of his recently deceased musician friends. The main events of the 34th Semi-Marathon International de Nice. take place today. There will be a group warm-up for 15 minutes adjacent to the Starting area on the Promenade des Anglais in Jardin Albert 1er. The Handisport event starts at 7:55 am, followed by the half-marathon (21.1 km) at 8 am. The 5 km race starts at 11 am and the 10 km event at midday. Prize giving follows the races. Participants can collect their bibs at the Expo Village located beside the Kiosque à musique in the Théâte de Verdure from 6 am until 30 minutes before the start of their event. There will obviously be traffic disruption due to the event so please check the Ville de Nice website for further updates.

The fantastic Illusions Tour with Eric Lee continues at MIN d’Azur in Nice today and throughout the week, finishing up on Sunday, 26th April. Expect flying pianos, helicopters materialising in an open cage and plenty of other of amazing illusions! Two performances today at 11 am and 3 pm. The latest immersive experience, L’Odyssée Céleste, continues in the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption in Nice’. This incredible show (run extended through mid-May), designed and executed by Luminiscence, transforms sacred architecture into a living narrative through light, sound, and technology. There are two shows per night on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only. Tickets start from €19 and may be reserved online (reduced rates also available).

The Festival Printemps des Arts in Monaco concludes this afternoon after a much-lauded edition. The Palais Nikaïa in Nice presents L’International Festival Ballet & Festival Orchestra with its spectacle of beauty, elegance, and grace. A consummate work of art accompanied by a live orchestra. For many, “Swan Lake” is synonymous with ballet. This romantic tale about the young Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the swan princess Odette and seeks to free her from the curse cast by Duke Redbeard, is a story about the power of true love. The performance starts at 4 pm. Tickets cost from €45 to €74 and may be reserved online.

Wontanara play the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer at 8 pm tonight. Mbady Diabaté, heir to the great griot families of Guinea-Conakry, opens the doors to a world where the kora unfolds its full power, finesse, and ancestral poetry. A guardian of Mandinka tradition as well as an inspired creator, he blends the memory of the elders with a resolutely contemporary style. With Wontanara, he performs his own compositions and revisits traditional African music with original arrangements, modern sounds, and fiery grooves.. PAPREC 600 course 2026

The PAPREC 600 regatta gets underway in earnest today in Saint-Tropez, a 600-nautical-mile non-stop course that pushes sailors to their physical and strategic limits. Running until Saturday next, 25th April, the race draws a wide spectrum of competitors, from fully-crewed IRC yachts to double-handed teams and high-performance multihulls. Talk about action on the high seas!

Starting today, the Département des Alpes-Maritimes invites you to the 2nd edition of the World AI Film Festival (WAiFF), a leading international event dedicated to the intersection of audiovisual creation and AI. Organised by the departmental council, the Maison de l’IA (House of AI), and the EuropIA Institute, WAiFF has established itself as a pioneering festival exploring the profound transformations of creation in the age of emerging technologies. A rich programme is on offer, including the inauguration, tribute evenings and awards ceremonies, and pro talks with the internationally renowned figures, including Gong Li, Agnès Jaoui, Jean-Michel Jarre, Mathieu Kassovitz, Claude Lelouch, and Elsa Zylberstein. The quartet brings together Lisa Robert, Georges Ferrero, Cédric Ledonne, and Luc Robert, four musicians who love to blend sensibilities, instruments, and cultures. Inspired by Milton Nascimento’s song “Travessia,” they borrow from Brazil its colors and rhythms while developing their own unique musical universe. The 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique gets underway today, and continues throughout the weekend. The event offers a remarkable journey through nearly four decades of Grand Prix history, spanning from 1946 to 1985. Recent FIA regulation changes now allow the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) Organizing and Selection Committee to introduce a dedicated class for Formula 1 cars powered by turbo engines. The 3rd edition of the Salon du Livre d’Histoire gets underway this evening in Grasse, and runs throughout the weekend. The event will be officially opened at the Palais des Congrès in the presence of Jérôme Viaud, Mayor of Grasse, and all the authors. The first performance of Le Villi, a little-known work by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, takes place at Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur tonight at 8 pm. This is a new coproduction by Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur, Opéra Grand Avignon, Opéra Toulon Provence Méditerranée and Opéra de Marseille. Tickets cost from €12 to €94 and may be reserved online.

Born in Paris, Mamacita has established itself as a leading name in the French reggaeton scene, with festive, inclusive, and undeniably danceable evenings. On the programme: a fiery sonic journey blending reggaeton, shatta, baile funk, and Afro-Latin influences, brought to you by the DJs of Mamacita Productions, guaranteed to keep the dance floor pumping all night long. Palais Nikaïa in Nice presents Murmuration Level 2, the new 2.0 version of the Murmuration phenomenon, and it’s not to be missed! Show starts at 8 pm. You’ve surely seen this artist with millions of views on social media and his hypnotic choreography: from Shakira to Chris Brown, from the Black Eyed Peas to the Grammy Awards, not to mention the Victoires de la Musique and the Paris 2024 Olympics. And let’s not forget his participation in global events for major brands. Conceived and created by Sadeck Berrabah, Murmuration is a unique concept, enriched over the years. It fuses hip-hop, martial arts, contemporary dance, ballet, and drawing – everything Sadeck loves. On stage, 50 dancers perform breathtaking, geometric, and perfectly synchronized pieces. Linus Olsson and the Trinquette Jazz Club in Villefranche-sur-Mer team present “Guitar Nights,” where every last Friday of the month, the jazz guitar takes centre stage.. Guitar Nights is an opportunity to trace the history of the guitar through all styles, to evoke the great guitarists, and to showcase the compositions of contemporary guitarists to keep this magnificent instrument alive. The programme for the 65th edition of the renowned Jazz à Juan festival has officially been unveiled, and it promises to be one of the standout music events of the summer. Running from 9th – 19th July, the festival returns to its iconic setting in the Pinède Gould in Juan-les-Pins. Tickets are now on sale.

ÉCRIRE CANNES writing competition

Calling all budding writers! The Écrire Cannes writing competition is underway – closing date for entries is 27 April 2026. Organized by the Mairie de Cannes and local libraries, this competition invites participants to write a short story on a theme related to the city. This year’s theme is « Cannes durable : imaginons la ville de demain » (Sustainable Cannes: Let’s imagine the city of tomorrow). Further details on the Ville de Cannes website.

The winners of the Messner Mountain Museum Photo competition are being honoured with an exhibition of their photos in MMM Firmian. The winners are: 1st place – Bernhard Hartmann – MMM Corones | 2nd place: Erwin Flor – MMM Firmian | 3rd place: Clara Schönthaler – MMM Juval. Congratulations to them all!
