Experience the Espresso Riviera: A New Overnight Train Adventure

Launched by FS Treni Turistici Italiani, the Espresso Riviera isn’t just another train — it’s a full travel experience. Designed with comfort, nostalgia, and sustainability in mind, this seasonal route offers a unique and scenic alternative to flying, perfect for travelers who want the journey to be part of the adventure.

Operating until Saturday, August 30, 2025, the Espresso Riviera will depart every Friday evening from Rome’s Termini Station, gliding through the Italian coastline overnight and arriving in Marseille on Saturday.

The return trip departs Marseille on Saturday evening, arriving back in Rome on Sunday morning — just in time for a cappuccino and a stroll through the Eternal City.

Travelers boarding in Genoa — with convenient connections from Milan — can hop aboard and ride straight into France without any transfers. It’s a rare treat to enjoy a direct international rail link across such a breathtaking stretch of coastline.

The Espresso Riviera is built for slow travel in the best sense. Overnight passengers can relax in comfortable couchettes or classic sleeping cars, while the train’s restaurant car offers freshly prepared dinners and breakfasts, with a bar open throughout the journey.

As the train reaches Genoa in the early morning, it shifts into daytime mode, offering First and Second Class seating and intimate lounge compartments, giving you the perfect spot to watch the coastline roll by.

Part of FS’s larger mission to revive Italy’s rich rail heritage, the Espresso Riviera embraces a slower, more conscious form of tourism. It’s about more than just getting from point A to B — it’s about enjoying the rhythm of the rails, the beauty of the Riviera, and the luxury of time.
