Opening in March 2024, Taimeless Art Gallery unites style, class, luxury, and museum quality artists. Its first exhibition reflects this concept by featuring three international maestri, including one from Nice.

If you have your finger on the pulse of trends, you already know that the Sicilian town of Taormina has been giving Cannes or Monaco a run for their money for quite some time now. Celebrities of all stripes meander in the shade of antique monuments, artists have come here for ages to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere and with sweeping vistas of Mount Etna, and cobblestoned medieval streets boast an endless string of luxury boutiques, designers, hotels, or restaurants. Now an exciting new art space, Taimeless Art Gallery, adds another stitch to the cultural fabric.

Housed in a 17th century building in the heart of Taormina, Taimeless Art Gallery opens its doors to the public on March 23, 2024 with a prestigious lineup of three top-tier artists: Alongside works by the world-famous Italian painter Lorenzo Chinnici, the Malaysian-French sculptor Michel Anthony shows three of his sculptures that have won international awards, and the pluridisciplinary Chinese-American artist Zhu Wei, known for his engagement for environmental themes, presents a selection of his œuvres. An additional highlight is the unveiling on opening night of a custom-made artistic gem by renowned Italian jeweler Francesco Bertè, worth over four million dollars.

It is unsurprising that Lorenzo Chinnici, one of the most venerated contemporary Italian painters, headlines this exhibition in Sicily, just miles from his hometown of Meri. Meri, by the way, was put on the international art map in 2021, when Francesco Chinnici, co-founder of the Taimeless Art Gallery (and Lorenzo Chinnici’s son), created the “Timeless Immortal Art” exhibition, which has since spun off counterparts in places as far away as China.

Although no stranger to international exhibitions and accolades, being included in such an illustrious event is a special privilege for Michel Anthony, who works out of his atelier in Old Town Nice. He contributes his award-winning bronze oeuvres “L’Amour Flamboyant”, “Aphrodite”, and “Aidos”, all cast in the prestigious Florentine foundry of Santapietra, artistic home to the likes of Botero.

“I am truly honoured that my Love and Positive Vibes sculptures are part of the maiden inauguration of the Taimeless Art Gallery in Taormina, alongside the works of exceptional fellow artists,” Michel Anthony tells us.

The name Taimeless is no fluke – it encompasses the values that matter to the gallery:

 
The choice of artists symbolizes all that Taimeless strives to express: esthetics, interconnectedness, and freedom. Based on the mindset that “art is freedom which has no walls”, Taimeless Art Gallery collaborates with a wide range of international modern and contemporary artists. “We present works across all media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation and photography, and seek to cultivate lineages that run between emerging and established artists,” says Francesco Chinnici, one of the co-founders. The gallery also includes an elegant boutique featuring a line of unique and exclusive luxury jewelry and accessories.

“The city of Taormina has acquired a stellar reputation as a premier luxury destination, as evidenced by the presence of many high-end brands like Louis Vuitton/LVML or Dior,” Francesco Chinnici explains further. “We are very happy that Taimeless Art Gallery adds another jewel in the crown of this elegant city.” And Nice takes pride in being represented at this momentous occasion by one of their own.

The three co-founders Francesco Chinnici, Antonio D’Aveni, and Stefano Sciacca have longstanding experience in developing cultural programmes and events with artists, and have mounted historically significant international exhibitions. Over time, the gallery also envisages expanding internationally.

In addition to presenting a dynamic programme of exhibitions, the gallery also facilitates museum exhibitions, special projects and commissions for public and private collections, collaborating with renowned curators. “We are fully dedicated, with integrity and discretion, to working closely with our collectors to build their collection, identify artwork, and provide art advisory consulting”, co-founder and Executive Director Antonio D’Aveni explains the concept further.

Palazzo Ciampoli

Hundreds of national and international VIPs as well as renowned art critics from around the world are expected for the glamorous opening gala at the 14th century Palazzo Ciampoli, just steps from the gallery (pictured in the lead photo). The black-tie event is sponsored by Naxos Park, represented by Dr. Gabriella Tigano, by the Municipality of Taormina, represented by the Hon. Mayor Cateno De Luca, and by the Sicilian Region, represented by the Hon. Francesco Paolo Scarpinato, Councillor for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity. Opening remarks will be delivered by Antonio Presti, a Sicilian-born, internationally renowned artist, art collector, and philanthropist.
