The street circuit in Monaco is world-renowned and remains one of the most iconic venues in global motorsport.

Over the decades, the Monaco Circuit has earned legendary status. Corners such as La Piscine, La Rascasse, and Tabac are etched into the memories of motorsport fans and firmly embedded in racing history.

Few circuits in the world compare to Monaco. Its breathtaking street layout winds through the very heart of the Principality, creating a setting that is both spectacular and unforgiving. Drivers must demonstrate absolute precision, unwavering concentration and exceptional technical skill to master this demanding track.

But, while most closely associated with the Formula 1 race, the legendary track also hosts two other Grand Prix.

It’s now that time of year again, as Grand Prix season approaches in Monaco. Across the Principality, preparations are well underway, with the familiar transformation of the streets already taking shape. Grandstands are rising, pit lanes are being assembled, and the circuit infrastructure is steadily nearing completion as Monaco readies itself for another thrilling season of motorsport.

Formula 1 cars powered by turbo engines will be eligible to compete in the 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique this April. Recent FIA regulation changes now allow the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) Organizing and Selection Committee to introduce a dedicated class for these machines – an idea first planned for 2022 when Race G was created for F1 single-seaters that competed in the Monaco Grand Prix between 1981 and 1985.

However, the true stars of the event – much to the delight of enthusiasts nostalgic for Formula 1’s golden era – are expected to remain the legendary 3-litre-engined single-seaters. Most famously powered by the Ford Cosworth DFV V8, these cars transformed Formula 1 when they arrived in 1966.

Between 80 and 100 historic racing machines are expected to compete across Races D to G. Carefully preserved and meticulously prepared, many are capable of lapping the Monaco streets faster today than they did more than half a century ago, thanks to improved grip and modern safety measures.

To preserve the authentic character of the event, organisers have retained Race A1, reserved exclusively for pre-war cars. Legendary machines such as the Bugatti 35, 37 and 51, alongside historic Maserati models, are considered the very DNA of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The remaining categories remain unchanged, including Race A2 for post-war front-engine cars and Race C for sports cars. Alongside five additional Formula 1 grids, the event offers a remarkable journey through nearly four decades of Grand Prix history, spanning from 1946 to 1985.

The Monaco E-Prix continues to stand as one of the flagship rounds of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Staged on the same legendary Monte-Carlo street circuit, the all-electric race blends high-level competition with cutting-edge technology and a commitment to sustainable mobility.

The unique layout of Monaco has consistently delivered thrilling races, with frequent overtaking and dramatic finishes. Over the years, renowned drivers including Sébastien Buemi, Jean-Éric Vergne, António Félix da Costa, Stoffel Vandoorne, Nick Cassidy, Mitch Evans, and Oliver Rowland have all secured victories on this prestigious yet demanding circuit.

In 2026, Monaco will play an even greater role in the championship calendar by hosting two consecutive races, serving as Rounds 9 and 10 of Season 12. This double-header format is expected to heighten both the sporting drama and strategic intensity of the weekend. The full programme is available on the ACM website.

The Monaco E-Prix perfectly captures the balance between tradition and innovation, reinforcing the Principality’s place as a premier destination for world-class motorsport.

The 83rd Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco, taking place this June, marks the first European round of the Formula 1 season.

A true jewel in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix promises an unforgettable experience both on and off the track.

The event features four days of high-level racing, showcasing four different series:

  • Formula 1
  • Formula 2
  • Formula 3
  • Porsche Supercup

Together, they deliver a packed programme of motorsport action on one of the most demanding circuits in the world.

As the late, great TV commentator Murray Walker used to say “Anything can happen in Formula 1 … and it usually does!”

Beyond the racing, fans can enjoy a range of entertainment with the dedicated Fan Zones and Villages.

The E-Prix Fan Village, located on Quai Antoine 1er, will offer an interactive space where visitors can immerse themselves in the Formula E experience. Activities include:

  • A Gaming Arena featuring E-sports racing simulators
  • The “Hold Tight” strength challenge
  • Live music and stage entertainment throughout the day
  • A Kids’ Zone with face painting, temporary tattoos and fun challenges
  • Multiple photo spots for memorable souvenirs
  • A merchandise shop and on-site ticketing point

Meanwhile, Formula 1 fans can visit the MGP Live Fan Zone at Place d’Armes in La Condamine. With live music, racing simulators, giant screens and driver autograph sessions, it offers the perfect atmosphere just steps away from the circuit.
