Mon Amour Bar: Nice’s New LGBTQ+ Hotspot

There’s a new LGBTQ+ bar in Vieux Nice that deserves a place on your must-visit list. Mon Amour Bar brings colour, cocktails, friendly faces to the heart of the Old Town.

Whether you’re a local looking for your new favourite watering hole or a visitor hoping to discover a more sociable side of Nice, this is one address worth remembering.

Having a new LGBTQ+ establishment open in Nice is always welcome news, and when it finds the right location and gets the atmosphere right, it’s even better. Since opening its doors this past June, Mon Amour Bar has been generating the kind of positive buzz that makes you feel a new favourite might just be emerging on the local scene.

Sometimes, you get a feeling about a new gay venue almost immediately. You wonder whether it will find its audience, establish its own personality and become somewhere people genuinely want to return to. With Mon Amour Bar, the feeling is quite the opposite — this place looks to be doing exceptionally well.

Mon Amour exterior

Located at 6 rue Francis Gallo, in the heart of historic Vieux Nice, the bar has found itself a prime spot in one of the city’s most lively neighbourhoods. Its welcoming outdoor seating makes it particularly appealing, with the pedestrianized surroundings providing an ideal setting for a leisurely drink, a catch-up with friends and a spot of people-watching.

And let’s be honest: people-watching is practically an art form on the French Riviera.

You might settle in for a quick cocktail with a friend, only to spot someone you haven’t seen in ages strolling past. Before long, your table has grown, the conversation is flowing, and that one quick drink has become an entire evening. Then there are the beachgoers making their way through the Old Town, some looking particularly good after a day in the Mediterranean sunshine. Who knows? Perhaps someone passing by might decide they could use a cocktail and a little company.

With its relaxed atmosphere, Mon Amour Bar makes it easy to sit back, enjoy the surroundings and let the evening unfold naturally.

The appeal doesn’t stop at the outdoor tables. Step inside and you’ll find an equally lively environment that feels colourful, intriguing and full of personality. This isn’t a place that feels dull or overly polished. Instead, there’s an energy that comes from the surroundings, the staff and, most importantly, the people who walk through the door.

The cocktail selection is another reason to stop by, particularly if you’ve grown tired of paying inflated tourist prices simply because you’re in a popular part of Nice. Mon Amour Bar offers an appealing range of cocktails at reasonable prices, alongside apéro-style snacks that make it easy to settle in for more than just a single drink.

Whether you’re finishing the working day, coming in from the beach, meeting friends over the weekend or organising a small birthday or business gathering, the bar offers a versatile setting for different occasions.

And there’s something else that matters just as much as the drinks or the location: the atmosphere.

Mon Amour clientele

Come As You Are. Seriously.

One of the most refreshing things about Mon Amour Bar is its welcoming, unpretentious spirit. There’s no need to arrive with the right look, know the right people or feel that you have to fit into a particular crowd. From my visits, the clientele has been wonderfully diverse, creating the sort of environment where people can relax and feel comfortable being themselves.

That absence of attitude makes a difference. LGBTQ+ venues should be places where people feel welcome, not places where they feel they have to pass some imaginary social test before ordering a drink.

Mon Amour Bar seems to understand that.

There’s even a designated kissing zone for those who prefer to express their affection rather than keep it entirely to themselves. It’s a playful touch that fits the bar’s personality and reinforces the idea that this is a place where people can let their guard down and enjoy themselves.

For visitors travelling alone, that welcoming atmosphere may be one of the biggest draws. Walking into an unfamiliar bar in a new city can sometimes feel intimidating, especially if you’re hoping to meet people rather than spend the evening scrolling through your phone. Here, the friendly crowd and relaxed setting make striking up a conversation feel much more natural.

Of course, nobody can promise you’ll leave with a new group of friends, a date or the telephone number of that attractive stranger across the room. But Mon Amour Bar certainly provides the right ingredients for a little spontaneous Riviera magic.

Your New Favourite Stop in Vieux Nice?

The beauty of Mon Amour Bar is that you don’t need to plan an entire evening around it. Drop in for a quick drink, meet friends before heading to the nightclubs, make it your regular after-work stop or spend a few hours enjoying the atmosphere. It’s equally suited to a spontaneous visit and a planned get-together.

For locals, it’s another welcome addition to Nice’s LGBTQ+ social scene. For visitors, it’s an opportunity to experience a friendly, sociable side of the city while exploring the narrow streets and lively squares of Vieux Nice.

The current seasonal opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday, from 5 pm until 12:30 am, with extended hours during the summer season.

So, whether you’re visiting Nice for a few days or call the French Riviera home, make a point of stopping by. Order a cocktail, find a seat outside, soak up the atmosphere and see who happens to walk past.

You might arrive planning to stay for one drink. Don’t be surprised if you end up staying considerably longer.
