Calling all triathletes on the Côte d’Azur – Ironman is back in Nice this coming June and this one promises to be the biggest and best ever!

A key event in the European and worldwide triathletic calendar, Ironman France is acknowledged as the biggest annual triathlon meeting on the French Riviera. A gruelling course which includes a 3.8km swim, 180km of cycling, and a 42.195km marathon to finish off with, this event is obviously not for the feint of heart!

The 2013 edition takes place on Sunday 23rd June, with the event starting on the beaches opposite Théâtre de la Verdure on the Promenade des Anlgais. The organisers have partnered with the charitable organisation PHA Europe for this year’s event, and are supporting the “Get Breathless for Pulmonary Hypertension” campaign for World Pulmonary Hypertension Day 2013.

Of course, Ironman is not just for the men. Irongirl and Ironkids are also accommodated on the day. The Irongirl event is strictly reserved for women only and consists of a 5km run along the Promenade, and €2 is donated on behalf of every entrant to the Indigo Association. The Ironkids event is open to different age groups and consists of a swim and run, the length of each depending on the age category.

There will also be an Ironman Expo Vilage, where athletes and enthusiasts alike can mingle, talk with experts in equipment, get advice from nutritionists and race strategists, and of course buy some of the great products on offer! The village will be open from Thursday 20th to Monday 24th June, in a yet to be confirmed location.
