Saint-Tropez is still home to hidden treasures, and few are as enchanting as the Château de La Moutte.
Tucked away within a centuries-old palm grove, this elegant estate offers a tranquil retreat far removed from the town’s famous glamour. For more than 50 years, Les Nuits du Château de La Moutte has welcomed internationally acclaimed artists and audiences to experience music in one of the Riviera’s most atmospheric settings.
This year’s festival, running from 1 to 11 August 2026, promises another outstanding programme, bringing together an exceptional line-up of artists with performances sure to appeal to audiences of all tastes.
Concerts take place beneath the stars in the château’s beautifully preserved courtyard, renowned for its exceptional acoustics, among the palms, and on the nearby Plage des Canebiers. The programme over the years has spanned classical, baroque, jazz and world music, creating unforgettable summer evenings in an intimate setting.

GAUTIER CAPUÇON
SATURDAY 1st AUGUST | PRÉ DES PÊCHEURS | 21h00

This is the opening concert of the 2026 festival, entitled Grandes Musiques sur l’herbe. Featuring Gautier Capuçon on cello and Jérôme Ducros on piano, along with Verity Jacobsen and Jordan Kindell, two dancers from the Ballet Preljocaj who will perform l’Abandon.
Free admission, no reservation required. Feel free to bring something to make yourself comfortable on the grass: a cushion, a blanket or anything else you like! A few chairs will be set up for people with reduced mobility, subject to availability.
LISA BATIASHVILI & FRANÇOIS LELEUX

Tonight’s concert is entitled Résonance symphonique au Château. With Lisa Batiashvili on violon and François Leleux on oboe and conducting. With the participation of the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Toulon.

The concert tonight, entitled Une étoile sur l’eau, is a piano recital with Yuja Wang, an artist celebrated for her charismatic artistry, emotional honesty and captivating stage presence.

An evening entitled Musique et Littérature, Guillaume Gallienne will be narrating accompanied by string quartet, Quatuor Modigliani. We are invited on a journey where the chamber music of Ludwig van Beethoven is revealed through the most beautiful passages of Marcel Proust.

Tonight’s concert, entitled Grandes Voix au clair de lune, brings the 2026 Nuits du Château de La Moutte to a close. Featuring renowned soprano Pretty Yende and young Russian tenor, Aleksey Kursanov, they are accompanied by Frank Braley on piano. A sumptuous closing evening is in store!

A variety of complementary events also accompany the festival, including a lecture and workshops designed for younger audiences.
Workshops
These workshops are given by Cindy Clech and François-Xavier Caillet and take place in the Palmeraie of Château de la Moutte. Each workshop lasts an hour and parents are asked to drop off their children 15 minutes before the start of the session.

Talks
Musicologist Nicolas Dufetel will give a talk on La saga Wagner à Saint-Tropez : l’histoire cachée de la Moutte at 6:30 pm on Sunday, 9 August in the Palmeraie of Château de la Moutte. Richard Wagner shared close personal and professional ties with La Moutte and its owner, Émile Ollivier, who was both his brother-in-law and lawyer. Marking the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival, Nicolas Dufetel explores how the château became entwined with Wagner’s life, music and legacy before the Franco-Prussian War brought the relationship to an end. Tickets cost €15 and may be reserved online.

A POTTED HISTORY OF CHÂTEAU DE LA MOUTTE
The château was acquired in the 19th century by Émile Ollivier, the last Prime Minister under Napoleon III, who made it his home with his wife, Blandine Liszt, daughter of the celebrated composer Franz Liszt. Through family ties, the estate also shares a connection with Richard Wagner. Remarkably unchanged over the years, the château retains its historic charm, while its 4,000-volume library and Mediterranean gardens add further cultural appeal.
In 2000, the estate was entrusted to the Conservatoire du Littoral to safeguard its architectural, cultural and musical heritage. Under the guidance of long-time festival organisers Jean-Philippe Audoli and François Michiels, the event has flourished, while artistic director Gautier Capuçon and Saint-Tropez Mayor Sylvie Siri are now leading a new chapter, building on its distinguished reputation and ensuring its continued growth.

While rooted in classical music, the festival combines internationally acclaimed performers with outstanding emerging talent, while also embracing unexpected musical encounters that continue to surprise and delight audiences.

Reservations by phone are required for large families (free for the 3rd child) and People with Reduced Mobility, to facilitate your access to the site. Please reserve your places directly by phone at +33 (0)4 94 96 96 94.
A beverage service will be available from 7 pm onwards and during the intermission at the Festival Lounge. There will also be a food truck on-site offering a selection of sweet and savoury treats.
