Europe’s Greatest Illusionist Show Takes Nice by Storm

Flying pianos or helicopters materializing in an open cage can only mean one thing: Eric Lee is in town! 

You still think that Las Vegas is where the world’s best magicians mount their incredible shows? Not so! Illusions Tour is here to prove you otherwise. Master illusionist Eric Lee may have been forged in the fire by elite creators in the world’s capital of theatrical shows but he is French and loves performing in France. And now he has waved his magic wand to transform a part of Nice’s MIN d’Azur into a 1,650‑seat travelling chapiteau, dubbed Le Zenith, where he hosts a breathtaking show around mentalism, levitation, quick‑change, aerial tricks and a series of big‑scale illusions. Illusions Tour runs through 26 April.

Eric Lee, the magician and show’s emcee, commands the arena as ringmaster with charisma and jaw-dropping precision. Known for his daring illusions, like levitating while playing a grand piano or making a helicopter and its pilot appear from a seemingly empty cage, he leaves audiences gasping. 

But Illusions Tour is more than just magic tricks – it is a group of performers who each bring something unique to the stage. From acrobatic feats to theatrical illusions, every act is much more than just “support”, it adds another layer to the show. 

Alessia Macaggi adds a delicate touch to the show with her aerial performance. Suspended high above the crowd, she moves with quiet precision, creating a stark contrast to the more explosive magic acts. Her moments of stillness in the air are as captivating as the high-energy illusions surrounding her.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Glenn Macaggi, whose act is all about strength and balance. Known for his mastery of monocycles, Glenn’s stunts look effortless, but they require extreme focus and skill. It’s a performance that grounds the show, offering a physical challenge that’s as impressive as any illusion.

Extravaganza, a Swiss quick-change duo, brings an element of surprise and speed to the show when they change outfits faster than the eye can follow. Their transformations keep the audience guessing and add a playful energy to the performance.

Then there is Coach, a father-son acrobatic duo recruited from a circus school in Kenya. They showcase trust and precision, with the father supporting his son’s high-flying flips and stunts. Their physicality brings a raw, grounded element to the show, contrasting the more theatrical magic.

Each of these performers brings a different skill set to the table, creating a diverse show that stands out through strength, grace, humor, and illusion, having all of the Vegas glamour without the exaggerated pomp. The innovative staging, designed for a 360-degree viewing, ensures that no audience member is left detached from the action. Every seat brings a different perspective, making Illusions Tour an experience rather than a passive observation.

In a chat with Eric Lee we learn more about his background and passion for his craft.

What was the first magic trick you performed?

Like many children, I received a magic kit for Christmas. As soon as I got home from school, I spent hours practising the tricks, until the day came when, with my uncle, I drew up the plans for my first grand illusion: the woman cut into three pieces. We built the box together. A magician must know how to do everything behind the scenes: welding, carpentry, painting, sewing… The magician is, above all, a true craftsman at the service of magic.

As a child, I never missed any television shows about magic, like “Les Mandrakes d’Or”, “Attention Magie” or “Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde”. So when a few years later Patrick Sébastien invited me, I was very proud. It marked the beginning of recognition for the profession and, especially, for the public.

Which magician fascinates and inspires you the most today?

Undoubtedly, it’s David Copperfield, whom I had the chance to meet during his French tour. Making the Statue of Liberty disappear isn’t something just anyone can do. He’s one of the pioneers. He’s still the Master.

Of the grand illusions you perform in the Illusions Tour, which one are you most proud of?

I am very proud of the flying piano. It’s truly impressive. I sit at the grand piano, and we fly through the air. The audience is always fascinated by this part of the show, which is very poetic. I also want to mention the helicopter appearance. I developed this illusion with a fellow magician from Las Vegas, the city of the world’s greatest illusionists…

This helicopter has a wingspan of over 8 meters, which is enormous, and to complicate the illusion, the stage of Illusions Tour is circular, like a circus ring: the audience is seated all around, 360°. You can’t hide anything! I’m the only one in the world presenting this trick under these very specific conditions.

Eric Lee’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of magic is what makes Illusions Tour an exceptional experience. It is not simply about tricks or deception but about artistry, engineering, and the endless pursuit of wonder. It invites you to look at the world differently, to reconsider what’s possible and to question the boundaries of human imagination.
