Air France has recently announced new fare structures on certain routes in France, joining the ranks of the low fare airline.
As of the 6th February 2013, Air France will be offering two new fare structures to their clients in Economy class, in an effort to try and revive loss-making short and medium haul routes. These fares will be applicable to flights departing from Paris-Orly to mainland France (excluding Corsica) and for flights departing from Nice, Toulon, and Marseille to destinations in France and Europe. These fare deals will not, however, apply to flights in partnership with KLM or Alitalia.
The new fare packages announced are the Prix Mini and the Prix Classic. The Prix Mini allows passengers to take advantage of low fares all year round but does not include checked baggage, and you do not have a choice as to where you sit at the time of booking online. You may choose your seat though, when you check-in at the airport. You are entitled to bring one piece of carry-on luggage with you, with a total weight allowance of 12kg. If you wish to check baggage in, there is a €15 surcharge for this when booking online, or €30 at the airport. These tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
The Prix Classic has all the same entitlements at the Prix Mini. However, you are allowed to check one bag with a weight allowance of 23kg for free. You may also choose your seat when booking online. These tickets, too, are non-refundable, but changes may be made at a cost of €70. It is also possible to combine the two fare structures, opting for a Prix Classic on your outward journey for instance, and a Prix Mini fare for the return leg.
