Diarmuid Gavin, the Irish garden designer known for his contemporary style throughout the world, gives a special talk in Monaco this June.

The Princess Grace Irish Library under the aegis of Fondation Princesse Grace presents an Illustrated Talk by Diarmuid Gavin entitled “MAKING GARDENS : A Romp Through History… An Examination of the Contemporary and a Peek at the Future of Garden Design” on Friday, 12th June at 7:30pm.  

Educated at Dublin’s Botanic Gardens, Gavin holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Nottingham. With a reputation as the creator of innovative gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show, Diarmuid lectures all over the world including, recently, Toronto and Moscow where he acted as a consultant for the City Council.

With eleven books to his name, he also writes a weekly column for the Saturday Mirror newspaper. He is also an ambassador for the Prince of Wales Foundation for Building Community, promoting the work of the Foundation to communities throughout the UK.

Ongoing garden projects include the installation of a roof garden in Harrods, London, in October 2014, alongside developing a new design for Regency Square, Brighton, in advance of the i360 (designed by the London Eye architectural team) being opened.

He has collaborated with Sir Terence Conran on both writing and design projects and works regularly with acclaimed Czech Architect Eva Jiricna.

Television credits include BBC 2’s ‘Home Front’, ‘Art of the Garden’, ‘Planet Patio’ and coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. He has recently recorded an ITV documentary on how his garden design programmes influenced gardeners throughout the UK with Alan Titchmarsh and a similar programme for BBC 2 along with making two documentaries for 2015 ‘Great Garden Revival’ series.

MAKING GARDENS : A Romp Through History… An Examination of the Contemporary and a Peek at the Future of Garden Design” takes place on Friday, 12th June at 7:30pm.
