I have known Dave Van Dorst for several years but I never knew, though Dave has always had a great interest in art, that he was also an artist!

It was a delightful surprise to see that he was having some great exposure in Monaco. I had to find out more.

Dave hails from the Netherlands. His attachment to the Riviera and Monaco began a longwhile ago. When he was 14 his family moved down to the Riviera. He was educated in the Netherlands. Early on his life he had a fondness for art and demonstrated a definite talent. However, being an artist was not what he wanted. Dave wanted to follow his father into business which he did. It was in 2014 that the artistic bug bit him which blossomed in 2019 to his becoming a fully fledged and engaged artist, the artist that is Dave today.

He works all the time, often into the small hours. His living room has a sizeable chunk dedicated to painting which paintings also adorn his walls. Dave has another large atelier space for creating especially when he is working on paintings that will form a series or an exhibition.

Dave has exhibited at L’Entrepot in Monaco, Daniel Boeri’s amazing gallery space. He has worked with Kashka Ko on curating exhibitions of his work and others such as Joris Brantuas and many, many more. Although Dave enjoyed helping artists to show their work, he recognises that it is difficult to get exposure, Dave realised that it was absorbing huge amounts of his time which he wanted and needed to devote to his own works.

There is also a significant charitable aspect to Dave. His work is all about love and giving. This is what he wants to do, to give back. Every fifth work he creates is for charity. He is also working on creating pieces to donate to HSH Prince Albert II for charitable purposes. Dave shares with the Prince a real concern for the oceans and protecting this vital organ of our Earth.
