I have known Nicolas for several years. We first met when he opened the late lamented La Passerelle in the port of Nice. It was a wonderful venue!

Nicolas was the male in lead in my play Jennifer which went on from La Passerelle to London and Dublin. He was in two other of my movies, Julia and Berlin Cake. He is not only a great actor, he is also a talented singer as well as being totally genuine, a rare breed!

Nicolas is an awesome performer and singer. His Brel is the best I have heard outside of listening to Brel himself. He creates the same dynamic that Brel did. That said, he does perform songs from other greats such as Bobby Lapointe. Whenever Nicolas is performing a chanson française set then I try my best to be there, it doesn’t matter how often I have heard the songs, they resonate.

Sophie Chiara Viglio and Nicolas work together these days to create some excellent theatre. Around four years ago they executed every performer’s dream, a travelling theatre, Théâtre Ambulant. The theatre is contained in an old caravan that unfolds to create a stage. It is a magical transformation. They take this on tour during the summer to the villages in the region.

I was lucky enough to have been at the inauguration at the Citadelle in Villefrance-sur-mer where they performed their own musical comedy Ciné Guinguette. They have continued to perform Ciné Guinguette many times since and will be taking it to Avignon in July and, with luck, they will bring along their Théâtre Ambulant.

I wrote a one man show for Nicolas some time ago which I need to dust off. Nicolas has another one man show which he is working on producing. he is one unique and mazing talent so if the opportunity avails itself, I recommend taking in any show that he is in. Nicolas surrounds himself with other great performers to look out for, of course Sophie Chiara Viglio, Isabelle Tosi, Stephanie Patout & Alexandre Lemerde. As solo performer Nicolas is outstanding, as part of a troupe he is awesome too!
