How does a day at the opera grab you? Most people would probably say no thanks! But if you were told that it would involve a sensory journey combining innovative scenography, lighting, soundscapes, and poetic narration, all in an historic venue, that might help to change your mind.
This summer, Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur undergoes a major transformation with Une Journée à l’opéra, which runs until the end of August. Created by Immersive Opera, the spectacle invites the visitor to explore the hidden life of this beautiful theatre, listen to the voices that once made it resonate, and let yourself be carried away by a fully immersive journey into the world of opera.
This Immersive Opera is a 360° immersive video-mapping experience — a poetic and sensory tribute to the world of opera. Set within a historic space, this visual and musical journey invites the audience to witness a symbolic day inside an opera house, from the first light of dawn to the quiet mystery of nightfall.
Through a powerful combination of monumental projections, orchestral music, and lyrical voices, the entire venue is transformed. Walls come to life, sound fills the air, and architecture becomes a canvas for storytelling – guided not by words, but by the emotional force of sound and image.

Une Journée à l’Opéra runs until 31st August at Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur from 3-10pm daily. Each show lasts 45 minutes. The venue is suitable for people with reduced mobility. Tickets are priced from €15 and may be purchased online.
Open to all audiences, the experience requires no prior knowledge of opera. It offers a contemplative and emotional journey, reimagining the operatic tradition through a contemporary, immersive lens.
