Cannes will play host to the French Men’s Volleyball Team who will be in town for a training camp this August for the 2025 World Championships
Two-time reigning Olympic champions, the French Men’s Volleyball Team will be training at the Palais des Victoires in Cannes-La Bocca from Thursday, August 14 to Tuesday, August 26, 2025. This is in preparation for the World Championships, which take place in the Philippines from September 12 to 28.
As part of this camp, a special friendly match will pit Les Bleus against Serbia on Wednesday, August 20 at 8:30pm.
Cannes regularly hosts the French men’s volleyball team, allowing them to take advantage of the high-quality facilities at the Palais des Victoires. Les Bleus trained here for nearly a month before winning their second Olympic gold medal at the Paris 2024 Games.
Cannes, training ground for Olympic champions
Cannes is hosting the French men’s volleyball team for the fifth time at the Palais des Victoires, home of AS Cannes Volley-Ball and Racing Club de Cannes. This time around takes on a special significance, nearly a year after their Olympic triumph at the Paris 2024 Games.
Les Bleus have held several training camps in Cannes over the years, including back in August 2018, and again in June 2021, July 2023 and last year in advance of the Olympics.
Volleyball is a true tradition in Cannes. With 21 French championship titles, 20 French Cups, and two Champions League titles, Racing Club de Cannes is a leading figure in women’s volleyball in France. AS Cannes Volley-Ball, its men’s counterpart, boasts a prestigious list of achievements, including 10 national titles and seven French Cups.
Labeled « Terre de Jeux » and designated an official Paris 2024 Olympics preparation centre, the Mairie de Cannes confirms its commitment to sport and supporting high-level athletes. Furthermore, the Cannes, Capital of Outdoor and Sea Sports programme, launched in 2016, aims to promote natural sites and sports infrastructure, while facilitating access to sports for all. In this spirit, the city makes its top-class facilities – including the Palais des Victoires – available to support preparation for the biggest international competitions.
The France/Serbia friendly match takes place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 8:30pm at the Palais des Victoires in Cannes-La Bocca. This is a great opportunity for the Cannes public to see and support the team before their departure for the Philippines. Tickets are available online.
