The 2014 Monaco Yacht Show was billed as being the biggest and best yet, and the organisers certainly did not disappoint with this edition.
Cocktails, dancing girls and every language under the sun … yes, this was Monaco Yacht Show 2014 in all its glory. The choice of craft extended from tenders to supply the great and the good, some speedboats to do the same, and then some fantastic and unimaginably expensive floating assets. A huge wow, sorry … WOW!
Back here on planet earth, I loved the sailing yachts, some where actually viable – viable in the sense you could see owning one, not viable in the sense of affording one. The quality of everything was astounding, there is no question about that.
Accessible? Yes, it is accessible in the sense once you are in the confines people are really very ok. You don’t believe me I can sense that. Truly the people, especially the captains and crews are in the main really nice people especially when they buy one round and the next! They are likely to do that which makes them winners in my book.
As with all yacht shows whether you can afford the beasts or not, people will talk to you. Why? Because they love what they do, they love the sea, they love the life so you can’t beat that enthusiasm.
If you schmooze in a suitable manner you will for sure be invited to one or more cocktail parties on these floating palaces. Did I do that? Not this time, though I had a fistful of invitations there was another event I was committed to – so committed I stayed. Next year I will keep the dates clear!
Go again next year – oh yeah.
