The Cannes Yacht Show is back in all of its glory, boasting some of the finest yachts around. The question is though – to go or not to go?

Answer: Go. I could stop there. Then again, do you actually get value for the entry price? That is a good question, thank you for asking. There is an amazing array of floating things to be seen from the smallest inflatable up to super yachts though not quite the huge huge things which is okay as it leaves space for everything in between.

I will give you three parameters that may help you decide:

1) You have an interest in boats, kind of obvious I guess
2) You like to browse to see what is new and interesting, there is a lot of that
3) You like a bit of glamour, there is a lot of that too

Did that help? Hope so. In any event I found it fascinating, though I am by no means a boat type person. Sure I have occasionally had the itch to sail again which took me very close to buying a berth. I digress. It is fascinating as it is a whole industry, a growing one at that with so many new ideas that could be applied to land lubbers too. The ingenious furnishings and storage concepts are as imaginative as there are interesting.

Oh, and do not be shy about talking to the people there as they just love to talk yachting. I learned and you will learn so much. Everyone is friendly and real which sort of sums up the yachting fraternity — there are always a few exceptions, but by and large everyone loves what they do and are enthusiastic about their yacht, sailboat, catamaran, tender, dingy ……

Have a lovely day in Cannes in the sun!
