From cherished routines, from friends and colleagues in Norway, from life as it has been for many years. They want to spend more time in Bordighera in the near future, relaxed, with a touch of extravagance.
Vibeke: Our network of friendships is very strong. Friendships can change with the phases of life – and that’s okay. Our friends are always welcome in Bordighera, if only to experience a few new things together.
Old noble hotels and summer villas in shady parks bear witness to the splendour of times gone by. Flower and plant cultivation flourishes around Bordighera and Bordighera itself is adorned with tropical vegetation, as if the town were one big garden.
Surely it was not easy to find a plot of land in this area?
Jan Einar: Building permits are very difficult to obtain, the plot is in an agricultural area. Development is only possible if an existing house is demolished and replaced by a new one.
It took us 5 years to get this planning permission. After that, we were a bit exhausted (laughs).
But we made it. Good things take time.
Plot with building licence ( for villa 200m² in total on two floors). The first floor consists of entrance, 1/2 bathroom (wc), large open plan kitchen living room, master suite with walk in wardrobe. On the second floor we have 3 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, laundry/storage and hall. All bedrooms have balconies.
Can the buyer have a say?
Vibeke and Jan Einar: Of course, the current internal layout can be changed. The property will be separated from our current property. Size to be determined/negotiated but minimum 1500m².
We will share the entrance from the street.
The view you have here is magnificent. What’s it like to wake up and only have the sea in front of you? Do you get used to it at some point?
Vibeke and Jan Einar: The location is 89 metres above sea level and set back about 100 metres from the coast. The beauty of this place is its energy, it creates a sense of community and independence. Pine green and Mediterranean turquoise, and looking up at the mountains from the sea while swimming in the morning, that’s just great.
The new villa will be located 25 metres to the east (right) of the current house on the plot. It will have a wide, uninterrupted view of the sea.
There is also a permission for a 7×3.5 m ‘vasca di irrigazione’ as this is an agricultural property. Now the question arises as to whether it wouldn’t make sense to use this irrigation tank as a pool?

How would you describe the project for sale? Let’s feel the beach vibes…..
Vibeke: We have invested a lot in this project and we couldn’t be happier. Offering this exceptional piece of land so close to the sea to someone who dreams of building their own home makes me very proud. Imagine sitting with your morning coffee or tea and just looking out to sea. It’s so peaceful. In front of you is nothing but green vegetation and turquoise-coloured sea. The water is so clear that you can see the rocks and sand on the bottom.
Jan Einar: Bordighera is our second home. Since 2009, when we first bought a flat here, we’ve spent 2-3 months here every year. I was here for the first time in 1992 and Vibeke in 1984 and we have never considered buying anywhere else.
